Well of Santa Cristina
Heading north towards Paulilatino, just over a fifteen-minute drive from Oristano, you’ll encounter the sacred well of the Nuraghe of Santa Cristina, a sanctuary dating back to 1000 B.C.
The well has a truncated cone structure and is built with perfectly squared blocks. It is hypothesized that to split large rocks, the Nuragic people drilled holes into the stones and filled the cavity with water, which, with winter frosts, caused them to break. Steep steps allow descent into the well to observe the Tholos covering from below, with a hole at the top. Nearby, there is also a nuraghe and a nuragic village.
Nuraghe Losa
Continuing towards Abbasanta, 8 km from the Well of Santa Cristina, you’ll arrive at Nuraghe Losa; also trilobate with a pentalobate plan.
The Roman Baths of Fordongianus
The Roman Baths of Fordongianus are noteworthy, with archaeological remains dating back to the 1st century B.C. They were built to exploit the slightly sulfurous hot springs, which today flow at a temperature of about 54°C.
